Dangers of Meditation

How to Avoid Dangers
which arise from Meditation

Suggestions from Brisbane Goodwill
There are various types of meditation, and relaxation meditation is different to the meditation which is practised by students of the Ageless Wisdom who are striving for spiritual growth. These instructions are for the latter group, because intense meditation opens the flood gates to higher spiritual energies which can be too powerful for the body and brain to handle

1. Atrophy: mind energy is stunned into inactivity, when the meditation technique is flawed. Such as – continually forcing the mind to be still; going “into the void” and deliberately holding the mind blank; losing mental awareness by “falling” into that which is being contemplated.
Avoid “spacing out”. Stay alert! The best protection is to focus in your brain at the end of the meditation period, and go over the details of that which was covered. Write special insights into your meditation journal. Do not meditate again until health has been restored, the mind is alert, strong and able to focus.
2.Over-stimulation of the nervous system: caused by soul energy pouring in which is too much for the system to handle. Early signs are excitability, an inability to relax, increased irritability, twitching, depression, low vitality.
Stop meditating as long as the symptoms last. Take steps to strengthen the bodies – the physical body through exercise, nature and sunshine.
3 Trying to raise Kundalini fire: Meditating for too long, or too intensely, or deliberate attempts to raise kundalini (physical plane fire) from the base chakra, may cause it to rise before the body can handle it, destroying body and brain tissue, and causing insanity. This can impede further occult work for several lives. It may also result in being born in the next life with weaknesses in the associated parts of the body.
The law is – never try to raise kundalini. People offering this practise through courses are misguided.
4. Becoming too negative and receptive, emotionally and sexually: by "spacing out" in meditation, or day dreaming for prolonged periods about how life could be or should be, which means that one is wandering blindly in the lower astral realms – the Plane of Delusion. Or, strengthening the sacral chakra region and sexual desire because the mind is often preoccupied with sex. This will often mean that in meditation, incoming energies will pour into the lower regions rather than go up to the higher centres such as the heart and mind areas.
If these problems arise, stop meditating until balance is restored. Try to maintain emotional positivity by living in reality – stop daydreaming! Unless a person is very advanced, it is unwise to spend too much time in meditation.
Avoid overstimulating the sexual nature. Throw out all porn. Try to meditate in the morning and have sex in the evenings. Try not to think about sex at all until you are about to have sexual relations with your partner – then let you mind free. At other times, when desire arises, lift it and your mind to the throat region and refuse to let it drop again.
5. Sitting for Development: there are certain groups who meditate to awaken “spiritual powers”. But psychic phenomena are no indication of spiritual growth, in fact in most people it is evidence of spiritual retardation, because the clairvoyant powers are of the lower kind and stemming from the solar plexus centre – the animal mind centre, and the Astral Plane. Another problem is that this practise feeds the pride – those who have these talents are considered by some to be more advanced than those who do not have them. The Masters of the Wisdom tell us that these powers or “siddhis” are not sought by them, but come as a natural result of purity of heart and dedicated service to the greater good.
6.Dangers from subtle forces. Students whose three lower bodies are too negative or the link between them is weak, and who “drift unconsciously” during “meditation”, may be attacked by denizens of the lower planes. This could also occur by using mantrams or words of power to summon non-human entities.
Stop all meditation, and never try to summon entities – this is very dangerous. The archangels and higher angels are not commanded by man – they come by request and only if they believe it is for the higher good.
7.Problems with meditating arising from karma of the student. For example, in a previous life the student may have accumulated much knowledge but not applied it practically in service. As a result, in the current life, occult meditation may not be permitted by one means or another.
8.Attracting attention from Dark Sources: Successful students who are beginning to wield divine fire, attract the attention of the Dark Lodge (members of the forces of evil) who will try to stop the student's progress through such things as an accident, magnifying character defects like pride, or surrounding the student with depression. Most people do not have to worry about this – perhaps only those disciples who are having a real effect on a wider scale.
This can be offset through alignment with the soul, invoking the Master's protection, cleanliness on all levels, protective mantrams.
If problems arise – generally, stop meditating immediately. Take steps to strengthen the bodies – the physical body through exercise, nature and sunshine; the etheric body with violet light. Purify the emotional body through inspirational music, art and focus on beauty; the mind through mental exercises and concentration. Do not start meditating again until health has been restored, the mind is alert, strong and able to focus. The wise person observes the following points: “Know thyself.” Proceed slowly and with caution in meditation. Study effects. Realise that eternity is long and that which is slowly built endures forever.

i have been suffering from adrenal fatigue for a while. i have also been releasing a lot of emotional pain for many years. this pain can cause fatigue holding it in the body. so i started meditating at least an hour a day and am able to release more emotions and often shake and cry for unknown reasons. i assume i am just releasing stuff. sometimes i pray for others and it feels like i am crying their tears. often i have more energy when i am done meditating but continue to have insomnia and fitful sleep with morning exhaustion. i recently took a vacation for a week to “play” and didn’t meditate during that period. i had no exhaustion and felt better than i had in a long time. when i got back home i struggled to function and was so tired returning to my usual routine and meditating daily. i am starting to wonder if i am overstimulating the adrenal pituitary thyroid axis? i will stop meditating and see how i feel. i really enjoy meditating. how do i avoid this?

  • Stop all meditation and other creative work immediately. You have caused imbalance in your etheric field and it needs time to heal and restore itself. Keep yourself physically active and spend at least half an hour daily out in the Sun. Email me directly for further correspondence. Leoni

I have been been meditating to help deal with a stomach illness. However as time passed i began to increase by doing self hypnosis, yoga, weird stuff happened, i incorperated prayer it stopped. Now, i have noticed i go into meditation without initating it, it has been scary. This began after doing charkra cleansing after doing it i saw purple while my eyes were closed, had visual issues for a while. I have been praying to God more now. Feel like i opened something i cant close. Some of the things ive seen have been validated through research, but i dont like this, i feel like i opened a door. Any suggestions.

  • As a rule, moderation should be the guide. This will help to avoid overstimulation or the crystallising of negative patterns within the nature which can arise from incorrect meditation techniques. If the content of the mantras contains an inspirational note, and it suits the level of consciousness of the user of the mantram, then it is a good practise to quietly affirm them throughout the day. This keeps the mind on a high level, and away from trouble-making lower thoughts. L

I am grasping the problems of overdoing meditation thanks in part to this material.
Can one overdo quietly thought mantras – used through out the day?
