A World Prayer

The Great Invocation

From the point of Light within the Mind of God,
Let Light stream forth into the minds of men,
Let Light descend on Earth.
*
From the point of Love within the Heart of God,
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of men,
May Christ return to Earth.
*
From the centre where the Will of God is known,
Let purpose guide the little wills of men,
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
*
From the centre which we call the race of men,
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out,
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.
*
Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

About the Great Invocation

The Great Invocation is a mantram or world prayer which has been translated into almost 70 languages and dialects, and is not exclusive to any particular religion or group. It is an instrument for good which can be used by anyone of any faith to bring spiritual value and strength to a troubled world.

  1. The Great Invocation affirms the living Presence of a Divine Power we call God, which has three aspects – the Divine Will of God (demonstrating as the life, breath and laws of nature), the Love of God (the integrating and inclusive force of nature), and the Intelligence or Light of God (demonstrating as the collective intelligence of the many forms in nature).

  2. The Invocation also affirms the existence of a divine Plan “of love and light”. This refers primarily to the evolution of the consciousness of man, so that it can become illumined or enlightened and therefore a conveyer of love and wisdom. This results in wise and loving action on earth which will lead to peace and goodwill amongst all races.

  3. The Plan is managed by the Spiritual Hierarchy – a group of ascended Guides and Masters, and at the heart of Hierarchy stands the Christ – the World Teacher. He is known by different names in different faiths such as the Bodhisattva, Lord Maitreya, the Imam Mahdi, the Messiah.

  4. The Invocation was released to humanity in the 1940’s so that man could use the Invocation to invoke the divine forces of Will, Love and Light, and so make a major contribution towards his own destiny and spiritualisation.

  5. Therefore, those who use the Great Invocation do so as an act of service to humanity, to support the implementation of the divine Plan, and the Christ in his work.

“Energy follows thought”, so through the focused and united use of this invocation we have a powerful means through which individuals acting in concert with other individuals can collectively affect world events – we can literally hasten the spiritualisation of man’s consciousness, and the expression of universal brotherhood and love. We can create this reality by joining forces with all people of goodwill, and by constantly sounding the Great Invocation.

  6. The Invocation also seeks to neutralise evil action on earth by symbolically stating “may it seal the door where evil dwells.”

  7. There is personal benefit as well. When the Invocation is constantly sounded, divine Light and Love also increases in our own natures – “As we think in the heart, so are we”.

Interpretation of the Great Invocation

Stanza One

From the point of light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.

The first stanza refers to the Mind of God – the all knowing higher divine abstract and illumined intelligence of Deity.

The “Light within the mind of God” is invoked so that men’s minds may become illumined with God’s lighted wisdom. This will enable him to see the truth behind all distortions and glamours, and so that he can make right choices and take wise actions for the greater good.

Stanza Two

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.

In the second stanza divine Love is invoked.

Love is the fundamental force of the universe – an attractive, magnetic and unifying force. Divine love flows in from the cosmos, and centres itself in the spiritual Hierarchy – which is the “heart centre of the planet”.

The Invocation invokes Love, and transmits it to every human heart. As effects take place it will manifest as Jesus’ commandment “Love one another as I have loved you”, becoming a reality on earth. Men will begin to see beneath all surface appearances and see to the Soul of a person, and identify with that Soul no matter what may be the race or religion.

People influenced in such a manner will band together in all human departments, to establish a new world order based upon spiritual values, and so implement goodwill on earth.

Stanza Three

From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men—
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

In the third stanza Divine Purpose – the Will of God is invoked.

The invocation endeavours to bring the many little wills  of men – each working individually and selfishly, into line with God’s Purpose so that man will be motivated to act collectively for the good of the whole.

As this becomes established on earth, individuals, political groups and organisations will begin to demonstrate greater concern and caring for all races and for the world as a whole, rather than just for their own personal, financial and political interests. Decisions then will be made for the greater good.

Stanza Four

From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

In the fourth stanza, the divine forces of Light, Love and Will, are anchored in man, so that they can work their magic and transform man’s consciousness.  This is the Divine “Plan of Love and Light”.

The last line refers to the evil in man’s nature – selfish desire, hatred, separateness, greed, racial and national barriers, love of power, cruelty, etc.

And may it seal the door where evil dwells” symbolises man leaving behind the old ways – closing the door on his immature and selfish behaviours, so that he is able to grow into his spiritual glory of “Love and Light”.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

The final line seeks to firmly ground and anchor the forces invoked, in mankind right down to the physical plane.

OM,  OM,  OM

We are told that the OM is a sacred word, the word of the 2nd Divine Love aspect. It therefore carries the vibrations of Love and Wisdom, and neutralises negative energies. When sounded to conclude the Invocation, it lifts the forces we have invoked, sending them forth on the wings of Light and Love to do their work – to the glory of God.
